Amani Oruwariye
is a cornerback for the New York Giants. Out of high school, he was ranked as a Top 100 prospect by Rivals and 247Sports. In 2014, he committed to Pennsylvania State University, where he spent five seasons with the Nittany Lions after being redshirted his freshman year. At the conclusion of his senior season, he was invited to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.
His size and speed made Oruwariye a valuable addition to the Lions, starting 27 games in his four-year run with the team. Making the best out of the COVID-9 season, he recorded his first interception in week 11 against the Panthers. He entered the 2021 season as the starting cornerback for the Lions, finishing the season with 57 tackles, a team-leading 11 passes defended, and six overall interceptions. In 2023, Oruwariye signed with the New York Giants.
He is a Florida native, born in St. Petersburg and raised in Tampa with his parents and two older brothers. He graduated from Penn State in 2017 with a B.A. in Telecommunications and a second degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2018. Amani participates with Uplifting Athletes, a non-profit organization that uses the power of sports to help those impacted by rare disease communities. He helped raise over 350,000 for the Kidney Cancer Association through various fundraising campaigns. Outside of football, he is into fashion and has modeled for major fashion brands such as Golden Goose.
